Triads

When Grizzlies Walked Upright by Jon Zimmer Gurahl lore deals with two triads, Gaia's first children and our totem, Bear.
We refer to Gaia's first children as the Yarn Spinner, the Tapestry Maker and the Pattern Breaker. The Garou use simpler terms: Wyld, Weaver and Wyrm. At first in balance, the Tapestry Maker sought to bind the Pattern Breaker, resulting in disastrous consequences. We can trace the problems with the Storm Eater to the resultant madness of the Pattern Breaker.
All Gurahl follow Bear, but we see Bear in three guises. Ursa Major, the Great She-Bear is the maternal aspect, nurturing and life-giving. She is the healer and symbol of love. Mangi, the Death Bear is the paternal aspect, symbolizing anger and rebirth. He also serves as guardian to the realms of the Dead, and it is he who we must entreat to return lost souls. Ursa Minor, my namesake and also known as Little Bear, serves as the childlike aspect we all contain. He is the spirit of discovery and playfulness.
